Welcome to our Maine vacation. The objectives of
the vacation were to see the Maine two foot gauge railroads (or what's
left of them), give Beth rest and relaxation from her hard life, to visit
a National Park, and spend time with my parents. Oh yeah, to spend
time together, as Dave had worked many long hours prior to the trip.
Before you begin, note that some of the pages may
take up to a 4 minutes to load over a 56K modem. We hope the images
are worth the wait.
Day 1 was a flight from Cincinnati to Portland, and a
drive to Wiscasset, where we met up with my parents. We stayed in
the Sheepscot River Inn (across the river from the village).
Day 2 was Wiscasset, specifically
the WW&F railroad where we all enjoyed Fathers day. Then a drive
to Acadia. Along the way, we stopped in Waldoboro for lunch at the
Pine Cone Cafe.
Day 3, Day 4,
and Day5 were Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park
Day 6 and Day
7 were Rangeley and tracking the old Sand River and Rangeley Lakes
railroad. The SR&RL is the two foot gauge railroad that I model.
Day 8 was Portland shopping, the
Portland Art Museum, and the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum.
Day 9 was a flight home.
