Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania Lumber
Museum in North Central Pennsylvania
features an operating saw mill and camp buildings. The sawmill is
operated once a year for the Bark Peelers convention. The
convention, usually held near the 4th of July each year, features many
logging competitions and teaching.
The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania
is preserving the rail history of
Pennsylvania. The library can be used to do research on the logging
railroads and industries. Recently the museum reprinted the four Railroad
Logging Era of Pennsylvania books written by Benjamin Kline.
These are books 1,2,12,&13 and are available from the museum.
NEW! The
Hickory Valley Railroad
located in Forest and Warren Counties of Pennsylvania. The railroad
served the lumbering interests of Wheeler and Dusenbury.
At the turn of the century (1900) T. D.
Collins build up a logging empire in Pennsylvania. Today, that
resulting company, Collinswood, still exists. Learn about the History

of Pennsylvania's largest logging related industries, was the Wood

Tennessee
Little
River Railroad and Lumber Company Museum is
devoted to preserving information about this standard gauge logging line
which featured 2-4-4-2 locomotives.
Virginia
The Surry Sussex & Southampton Railway was a
small 3' logging line in Virginia. The Dendron
Historical Society has just reprinted Temple Crittenden's
book, "The Company" which chronicals the line. George got
a few nice photos of SS&S #26
a 2-6-2, in operation at the Pine Creek
Railroad, a tourist line in Eastern New
Jersey. Don Ross has images of #26
at the Gray Lumber Co. in the 50's.
West Virginia
Images and Links for the CASS
Scenic Railroad. CASS was the home of the Mower Lumber
Co. Today, a fleet a geared locomotives haul tourists not logs over
the mountain.

State Railroad and Logging Historical Society promotes information
a about logging and industrial shortline railroads in West Virginia. Back
