Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes RR

circa 1912

Strong to Phillips

A freight train rolls across the Dickey Bridge.  The model is based on drawings from 2-Feet Between the Rails Vol II by Robert Jones and photos that appeared in the Maine 2-Footers by Moody and Jones

Critter #30 is about to pull a freight train across Dickey Bridge.  Much work remains to detail the scene.

#30 eases out on to the Salmon Hole Bridge.  The rest of the train is still on the fill, which just a few years before was trestle.

The prototype bride was a pin connected thru truss bridge and measured in at over 150ft long.  The model (completed by Paul Miklos) was made by extending an HO Central Valley Thru truss bridge one section.  The model has the same number of sections, but is only 128' long.

One of the railroads name sake's, the Sandy River, flows below the Salmon Hole bridge.

The freight train is about to complete its crossing of the Sandy River on its way to Strong.
